Airaid Corvette Intake for C6

In the world of automotive intakes, everyone has an opinion on what brand, what style, what you should spend, and how much power you should be able to extract out of each motor by bolting on an intake. I have always been of the philosophy that word of mouth is the best advertising, yet at the end of that philosophy there is always a very large asterisk. Word of mouth is a great tool, but most of the time the source seems to be hearsay and therefore the following advertisement is more often than not greatly exaggerated. After hearing rumblings of great things about the Airaid intake system from numerous sources, I scouted out some real facts for myself.

As with most intakes for most stock motors, the stock intake for the 2006 up C6 Corvette is unnecessarily restrictive for my purposes. Granted the millions of dollars that Chevy put Corvette Airaid Intakeinto coming up with this motor, they also had to meet stringent emissions requirements laid down by our fellow Men in Blue. So, when you take a look at the stock intake and realize that it has served its purpose, and you are ready for a little bit of extra oomph, take a peek at the Corvette C6 Airaid Intake system. Here they are side by side below:

The obvious differences in immediate appearances are the enormous oval filter element and the large, angled, and broad plenum immediately following the filter element are greatly improved over the shorter, straighter stock piece. The open filter element will provide for an increased airflow as well as a nice hint of a gnarly growl for the ears of passersby. Also of note, the two winged-looking pieces on the outside of the plenum are actually the opposite of anything winged. They actually serve to block the enormous filter element off from sucking in any hot air from the engine compartment on the other side of the radiator support. This way the hood and forward space create a pocket of incoming air to be ingested by the motor that stays as close to ambient air temperatures (AAT) as possible. Below you will find the dyno readings provided by Airaid on their website:

Corvette C6 Airaid Intake

In all fairness however, most intakes will net you close to the same gain in power and torque in most possible scenarios. Whether one intake will grab an extra couple horses is always open for debate, and probably will be until the end of time, but the Airaid system excels in one particular category: price. This intake seems to be well below those that gain similar power for our beloved Corvettes. However this intake doesn't skimp on quality or the horsepower gains. It simply seems that the guys over at Airaid forgot the "Corvette Tax" that we've grown so accustomed to. And this secret is quickly getting out among the Vette community. Over here, we're all about bang for our buck — otherwise, why own a Corvette in the first place? Being that all the available intakes for the Vette will net you 7-15 HP to the wheels, all things being equal the major discriminating factor between the Airaid system and all its competitors is price. With the Airaid clocking in at generally $80-$200 cheaper than the competition, it just seems silly to go any other route.

Corvette Window Valet

Corvette Window Valet

I have tried a ton of Corvette Parts and Accessories on the different Corvettes I have owned over the years (3 C5 Z06's and 1 C6 Coupe, and 2 C6 Z06's) and there is always one or two Corvette modifications that I do as a "given" every time I get a new Vette. One of those Corvette modifications is the Window Valet, a C6 Window Valet and C5 Window Valet. If you have never seen or heard of the Window Valet, you really need to check it out. you will wonder how you ever got along without it. The Corvette Window Valet is available for both the C5 and C6 Corvette (Z06 and ZR1 included) and gives you some really cool functionality. Installation is as simple as plugging it into the OBDII port underneath your steering wheel and does not modify your Corvette in anyway. It can be removed at any time and then reinstalled without any gotcha's. Literally, installation takes less than 30 seconds, 20 of that spent looking for your OBDII port.

Once installed the Window Valet lets you remotely control your windows from your Corvette Key remote. Click the lock button three times and the windows roll up, click unlock three times and the windows roll down. This is a super convenient way to vent the car of heat when walking up to it on a hot summer day or leave the windows down at the office and roll them up from your office window if signs of bad weather are approaching. The Window Valet also allows you to set accessory power to come on when you roll the windows down so that your stereo will turn on remotely.

Some other really neat features are the ability to see how fast your car was driven and the highest tach reading achieved since last reset. This is an excellent way to monitor how your vehicle was driven by the restaurant valet or your teenage son on prom night (only night you loan him the Corvette). With the C6 Valet there is also the "unlock on brake" feature which automatically unlocks the doors once the parking brake is applied. There is also the Window Vent feature....say you want to leave your windows cracked, but not all the way down. The Valet makes venting really easy, with the windows rolled up, press the lock button on the key fob three times and the windows will open up about 1" and stop there.

I have not even mentioned how useful the Valet is for the Convertible....Ever try to put the top up with your windows up? The Window Valet is a MUST for Vert owners........I think you can see the value without me needing to explain. Walk around the car, three clicks and the windows roll down, put the top up, three clicks and the windows go back up. You never even need to get inside the car.

Both the C5 and C6 Valet's come with several other minor features...just the remote window control alone is enough for me to purchase for every Corvette I have owned. Reasonably priced around $150 bucks from most suppliers with a few in sub $140 range....

Escort Radar Detector Comparisons

Here is the breakdown of the most recent Escort Radar Detectors....Maybe this will help because I see how the waters can get murky with all the new products...

Escort Redline

The Redline is the ultimate in sensitivity, with a functional detection range of 13 miles (longest around)!!! With a twin antenna design, each antenna is tuned to different radar frequency bands to give you incredible range and performance. With extreme sensitivity also comes more false alarms (created by shopping mall door openers and other RF generating devices in commercial areas). The Redline does not have GPS, so it does not eliminate false alarms which can be a nuisance in the city. It is targeted for the highway warrior, who needs a super sensitive detector that spends 80% of their time running the highways (cannonball run style ;) ) It does detect Radar and Laser....

The 9500IX is a perfect all around detector...Detects Laser and Radar and has a couple mile range. It's HUGE claim to fame (and it works) is the GPS filters and auto learning. The 9500ix eliminates false alarms by blocking them out with a GPS filter. If the detector sees the same signal (freq) at the same location 3 times, it blocks it out automatically and you will not see it again. You can also tell the detector (with the push of a manual button) that the signal is false and it will block it out immediately. The 9500IX also comes loaded with a nationwide database of Traffic Cameras and Speed Cameras. It warns you if you are approaching a speed/stoplight camera. The database can also be updated via the internet by connecting your detector to you PC. Really, really cool feature!!!

The Escort Qi45 is a remote mount/concealed display detector. With this model you actually mount the radar receiver antenna up under the hood, in the grille, under the front fascia to give the antenna perfect unobstructed view of the road. You then mount the small display somewhere in your car/truck. Very discreet and excellent performance. You do not have to worry about theft as much with this system as nobody knows it is there. You can also add a laser shifter system later or at the time of purchase if you want. Most remote mount systems cost well over $1000 bucks and in the past have only been purchased by folks with deep pockets and exotic vehicles. They also required professional installation as there were many wires that needed to be run in and out of the car. The Qi45 only has one wire that needs to be run into the car (even if you add the Laser shifter pack later as the shifter plugs right into the radar antenna). You can install the Qi45 yourself without paying the high cost of installation and usual times to install are less the 45 mins. The Qi45 does not have GPS or the Speed camera database (only downside).

Last but not least, the Escort CI....A remote mount system just like the Qi45. Cost is much higher, but it comes with the Laser Shifters AND does have the GPS Functionality (false alarm blocking, but not the speed camera database). The CI can be installed at home but is more complicated than the Qi45 as there are more wires to run. Basically, the CI is an remote mount 9500ix without the speed camera database. The Escort CI is considered the MAC Daddy of all radar detectors....You pay for it though....

Hope this helps you decide......

Smartest Battery Charger in the World?

When it comes to Corvette Parts, just about every Corvette owner gets a battery charger. Battery Chargers have come a long way in the last few years and CTEK is certainly leading the charge. They have recently released a line of battery chargers that they coin "the smartest Battery Chargers in the world". I have always associated a Battery Charger as something fairly and clunky, nothing that I would want permanently mounted in my car nor would I feel comfortable leaving it connected to my car, boat, or Motorcycle without supervision. The CTEK Battery Charger will completely change the way you look at battery chargers, guaranteed! The Ctek is rugged, outdoor safe, dust and water proof while still maintaining the sleekest and sexiest look I have ever seen in a battery charger.

It can be mounted in the engine compartment as a permanent addition to your car or just used as a temporary solution during the winter months. Either way, you can leave it connected to your battery all the time without the worry of overcharging or damaging the battery. Unlike other battery chargers, the CTEK Charger does not require the car battery to be disconnected from the car prior to use. The CTEK Battery Charger is perfectly safe to use with your car battery connected to the car. The charger will not damage your vehicles computer or electrical equipment. Once the charger harness is connected to your battery it has quick release clips that allow you to remove and install the charger easily at any time. The charger is spark proof and reverse polarity proof so that you do not have to worry about accidently connecting it backwards, try that with a traditional battery charger.

The CTEK Battery Charger is 100% automatic, just hook it up and turn it on….It does everything else. You can leave it connected for months and months without any concerns. All CTEK chargers come with a 2-5 year guarantee and are shock proof, weather proof, dust proof, and certified for outdoor use. For the money (less than $100 bucks) it is the best darn charger I have ever seen and would recommend it for just about any application. I was so impressed wit the CTEK charger that I installed the CTEK US3300 in my C6 Corvette Z06 permanently.

People sometimes ask, why should you buy a CTEK battery charger instead of one that costs half as much and looks virtually the same (even the product description is the same)? But this is not the whole truth. CTEK products have a unique system (patented functions) not available in other legal battery chargers that can therefore not offer the same performance. As for "copy cats" or forgeries, it is guaranteed that they will not maintain the same standards as a CTEK charger. It is impossible to use the quality materials, hire qualified engineers that produce the right product composition, maintain an even and fine level of quality control while at the same time keeping the price down. The "copy cat" battery chargers do not meet the standards that CTEK enforces and do not guarantee to be non sparking, reverse-polarity proof, and electronics safe.

Choosing a Coverking Corvette Car Cover…

Buying a car cover for your Corvette seems like a simple task on the surface. Once you start digging into all the different brands, functions, and materials you can quickly get caught up in Analysis Paralysis. There are car covers for outdoors, indoor, lots of sun, stormy weather, etc. There seems to be a Corvette car cover for just about every occasion one could think of. I am going to make choosing a car cover easy. There are two covers on the market that will cover (no pun intended ;) ) about 98% of any need you might have. You cannot go wrong with either of the two I am recommending.

First off, is the cover going to be used for indoor, outdoor, or both. Just by deciding the function of the cover will help you narrow it down a little quicker. If you are going to be using the cover in the garage to protect your car from foot traffic, childrens hands, or the occasional bump from the wife with a grocery bag then I would go for the Coverking Satin Stretch.  It is very sexy and is custom made to fit your car exactly. As with all Coverking Car Covers there are minimal seams (seams run the long way of the car to minimize amount) to provide the least amount of friction points to rub on your clear coat. All stitching is done using the blind stitch, hiding all thread.

Coverking Car Covers

Coverking Car Covers

The Satin Stretch material is the absolute softest material Coverking offers and might be the softest on the market. The inner part of the Satin Stretch cover has a nice fleece lining that caresses your car with the gentlest touch possible.

The exterior of the cover feels like silk and has Lycra fibers sewn in both directions to provide a stretchable fabric in both directions. The silky fabric fits the car like a glove and because of the tight custom stretchable fit, there will not be any wrinkles in the cover while it is on your Corvette (just makes it look so much better when covered. Trust me, nothing looks worse in your garage than a Corvette covered up with a wrinkly car cover). The inner fleece lining (specially designed not to come off on convertible tops) combined with the exterior lycra provides just enough material to also act as a cushion against minor bumps from foot traffic in the garage.

Satin Stretch Car Cover

Satin Stretch Car Cover

The cover is available in solid color designs, including Black, Steel Gray, Pearl White, Burgundy Red, Dark Blue, Fly Yellow, Tan, and Forest Green along with the option of an embroidered Corvette logo on it (looks really good in the garage). Couple of things to be aware of with Satin Stretch, it is truly an indoor cover only. I would only use this cover in a closed garage (no carports) as it will fade in the sun and is NOT water proof at all and looses it's breath ability when wet. Price is upper middle of the spectrum ($269) (but you get what you pay for typically and with car covers this is definitely the case) but is worth every penny and will last as long as your Corvette.

Coverking Satin Stretch Car Cover

Coverking Satin Stretch Car Cover

For outdoor use I usually always go for the Coverking Autobody Armor for most applications. It is the most amazing car cover I have ever seen. To be honest, this cover is so versatile and just as easy on your paint as the Satin Stretch that you could even make a case as using it as an indoor cover (I do). At first look, it is very similar in appearance and sexyness to the Satin Stretch (only comes in grey though) as it does also have a stretchable fabric and the inner fleece lining.

Autobody Armour

Autobody Armour

The Autobody Armor has  middle layer of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) that provides your Corvette with the best water resistance available from a Custom Car Cover today. Two outer layers of woven polyester reinforce and protect the inner layer while allowing extreme breathability. It is a tad thicker than the Satin Stretch which will help with hail or any other bumps your car might recieve when outdoors. The material is totally waterproof. You can take the cover, cover your car, and the run a garden hose all over the cover. Take the cover off and everything is bone dry. Simply Amazing !!!

The Autobody Cover is strong enough to use outdoors, repels all the elements, and is almost as sexy as the indoor Satin Stretch (only if it came in other colors). You can also get it with an embroidered logo. I like it so much that I actually use it as my indoor cover (nothing against the Satin Stretch) but I just really love this cover. The Autobody raises the price ante a bit as it will push you over $320 but is worth every penny!

Corvette C6 Mild to Wild Switch

Starting with the Corvette C6 Z06 and then with the 2006 Corvette C6, GM starting offering a new and cool option called Multi Mode Exhaust or the NPP Exhaust option. A standard feature on all Z06's and an optional feature on 2007+ Corvette C6's, the new exhaust system has the ability to open two of the 4 pipes at 3500+ RPM's and close them below 3500 RPM. This new system gave the Corvette a mean throaty sound under hard acceleration and a more subdued, docile sound at idle and cruising speeds.

Corvette C6 Mild to Wild Switch

Corvette C6 Mild to Wild Switch

But wait, what if you wanted to control the exhaust system manually? So that you could "have your cake and eat it too"..Maybe you like the roar of the V8 all the time or want to hear it sometimes and then not at others. Along comes a new little Corvette Accessory, the Corvette C6 Mild to Wild Exhaust Control Switch. The new device, plugs into your fuse box and gives you the ability to control the exhaust baffles on the C6 Z06, C6 Zr1, and the C6 with the Multimode option at your command.

The installation takes all of 10 mins. All you do is lift your passenger floor board to expose your fuse box, pop out a fuse, pop this device in the place of the fuse, attatch a ground wire, and you are ready to go. Very, very simple....No wires to run or splicing needed. Once it is installed, you can use one of the tiny remotes (comes with two) that comes with the Wild to Wild switch to open and close the system, two positions on and off.

The device really works and seems to last a long time...I have had one installed in my car for almost 2 years and never a hickup. It also works with the C6 Z06 Billy Boat Fusion Exhaust system also. You can listen below to some of the sound clips and you can hear the difference between "Mild and Wild" and see how the system operates with the Exhaust controller switch.

Billy Boat Corvette C6 Z06 Exhaust

We all have read the posts asking "which is the best exhaust system to have on my Vette?" Well I am not going to ask this question, but rather share with you my opinion. Being in the Corvette Parts business, I have the luxury of being able to try different systems on my car and evaluate the exhaust note, build quality, and attention to detail. I have personally installed the Corsa C6 Z06 system, the Borla Stinger C6 Z06 system and now the B&B Fusion system.

Let me also preface this opinion with the assumption that all the three systems I tested have equal performance gains as I do not have a dyno to test differences, but I would be willing to bet they are all within a few HP of each other.

All three systems had excellent build quality, but with the Corsa there were some installation enigmas that had me wondering "why in the heck did they engineer a band clamp there, could it not be the worse place to try and tighten". The Corsa sounded good, but the difference was not different enough from Stock at all RPM's to really give me what I was looking for. It also took away the multi mode exhaust function.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc7Xq_CtgpM

The Borla C6 Corvette Z06 Exhaust system installed pretty easy and sounded awesome at idle and driving around town. But damn, the highway was a different story. I had Borla stingers on my C5 Z06 and there was some drone, which I could live with.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RgRq73KgTw
Maybe I have just lost my tolerance too it, but the drone on the C6 Z06 with Borla's was unbearable (for me and just about any other passenger I took for a ride). I had to get them off the car.....Take a look on any forum at the C6 Z06 parts for sale...You will see C6 Z06 Borla's used for sale on every forum. I think I am not the only one that had this issue. Also, like the Corsa, no more multi mode exhaust.

I had never heard the BB Corvette C6 Z06 Fusion System nor had I had any experience with Billy Boat Systems. I figured I would give it a try, but really did not think it was going to be what I wanted, but I did like the idea of keeping my multi mode exhaust. Upon opening the box, I was very impressed with the quality of the parts. Installation was a breeze, with very logical engineering. Everything was easy to access and tighten down. The sound at idle is a bit more aggressive than stock. Acceleration was a different story, when you pass the magic RPM point for the Multi Mode to kick in, Oh my god.....the perfect sound. Just what I was looking for. Toss in a Mild to Wild switch, so that I can control the Multi Mode and finally, exhaust Nirvana.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrzeAtF9HY

The cool thing (unlike the others) is that you can control the exhaust sound just like the OEM system. So if you are cruising down the highway, you can shut the baffles in the exhaust and enjoy quiet near drone free driving. Open the baffles, and bam, the thrill of driving a muscle car is back in your face (and ears). Not an obnoxious sound, but a throaty muscle car sound.

Anyway, trust me....If you have a C6 Z06 and are considering an after market exhaust the B&B Fusion Corvette Z06 system is worth a look. I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but I sell all of the above mentioned systems. I just am that excited about the fusion system that I thought I would share my thoughts with the blog.

Pictures below are some shots of the B&B Fusion system on my car...

PFADT Racing Corvette Competition Sway Bars

I have always heard about different suspension upgrades for Sports cars and Corvettes, but always figured that they were more aimed at folks who want to take their car to the track. They are usually pretty expensive and I figured that the installation would be a pain in the neck. Given the price, the perceived difficulty with the installation, and my thoughts that I would only notice the differences on the track, I have have always shy’ed away from upgrades such as this. Whelp, all that has changed........

I recently sold my 2006 Corvette Z06 and purchased an 2009 Corvette Z06. I offer all of the Pfadt racing products on my Corvette Parts website and figured I really need to give some of their products a try. I have had customers tell me how much they love the PFADT Sway Bars and PFADT Coilovers but always assumed they were taking their cars to the track. I called Pfadt and asked them if I would notice a difference with handling on the street for a weekend driver like myself an also what would be the most "bang for my buck" upgrade. I was thinking the Pfadt Corvette coilovers, but surprisingly enough, Pfadt's recommendation was the Pfadt Competition Sway bars. In disbelief, I went ahead and had them send me a set for installation on my new Corvette. I truly did not believe that I was going to notice much of a difference from the stock setup to the Pfadt setup.

About a week later my front/rear Pfadt Corvette Z06 sway bar kit arrived. I was really not dying to start what I thought would be a complicated installation, so the kit sat in my office for close to two weeks before I decided to take the plunge. Prior to taking everything apart, I had to take the Z06 for a spirited drive with the stock sway's so that I had something fresh in my mind to compare too. I drove for 30 mins or so on a two lane secondary road that has nice tight turns and switchbacks.

Armed with a six pack and my hodge podge of tools I began the PFADT Sway Bar Installation (see link for details on the install). Removing the stock sway bars was pretty easy and took maybe 45 mins tops. I will say, comparing the stock sway bars to the PFADT bars, you see an immediate difference in quality between the two. The PFADT system absolutely makes the OEM sway's look cheap and inadequate. The entire installation took maybe 4 hours (max). I will say that the PFADT instructions do assume a certain level of technical knowledge and are probably written more with an installation shop in mind, but are still adequate for a "shade tree mechanic". I also did create my own PFADT Sway Bar Installation for Dummy's write-up just in case you need some extra pictures or explanation.

PFADT Corvette Z06 Sway Bar

PFADT Corvette Z06 Sway Bar

Roughly 4 hours and a six pack later, my installation was done. Time for the first drive (of course, after all the beer was out of my system) with the new PFADT Competition Sway Bars. At first I was not expecting much difference, but after comparing the quality of the OEM components to the PFADT setup, I was starting to think maybe there will be a slight noticeable difference.

Startup, and the car rolled out of the driveway without any grinding noises or clunking (whew car still rolls, could not a screwed up the install that bad). Drove gently out of the neighborhood just to make sure everything was ok, and then accelerated onto a side street (45 mph) two lane, tight winding road. Ok, not is it is time to see if there is a difference.First turn, took it carefully and controlled...hmmmmm, felt good, my confidence was starting to build. Next turn, little more speed, everything still good. No noise...Now I really am feeling confident in my installation. Hit the next turn with a bit more "spirited driving". Oh my god!!!!! I could feel a HUGE difference! I immediately understood what "Body Roll" is. When I hit a corner, the my butt slide laterally in the seat, but the top of my torso felt very little lateral movement (nothing like with the stock setup). Hitting another turn, I accelerated into it (loving the new feeling), same thing, absolutely amazing. It is very hard to explain, but you do not really feel your head getting pulled into the turn, all the G’s feel like they are pulling harder at the lower part of your body than the top. It was a clear case of you do not know what you are missing until you try it. I thought the Z06 handled good stock, and never had experienced what top notch sway bars feel like. I will never be able to go back to stock and this is one of those Corvette Modifications I would rank right up there with the Intake and Exhaust. It makes THAT big of a difference in your day to day driving experience and for the price, is worth EVERY penny!!!! Now I am really wondering what I have been missing with the PFADT Corvette Coilovers?

Let's just say that I am not a sticker man when it comes to my cars...But I loved the PFADT sway bars so much, that I just had to put their sticker in my back window ;) Actually looks pretty good on a Cyber Grey car.

Escort 9500 IX Radar Detector Review

The new Escort 9500 ix just hit the market in the last couple months and being an owner of an Escort 8500 and then an Escort 9500i, I had to give the new Escort 9500ix a try and see what the differences are, and if they really work as described. Just so everyone understands, the Escort 9500ix has a fully integrated GPS chipset (just like the Escort 9500i). The big difference is that the 9500ix auto learns false alarms where the 9500i needs to be told that an alarm was false and then it will block the signal out the next time it is in the same area. With the 9500ix, if it sees the same signal (frequency and location) three different times, it will automatically block it out so that it will not set off the alarm again. Of course, you can also (just like the 9500i, manually block out a false alarm) and it will also keep it from triggering the alarm. The 9500ix also comes preloaded with the United States speed camera locations (pretty cool) so it will alarm you when you are approaching known speed camera. The detector can also be updated via the internet with the latest camera location database (really cool)

None of all this really matters if the darn thing does not do as advertised...So let's test it out!!!!

I mounted the 9500ix on the upper part of my front window, just to the right of the rear view mirror, using an SCP Escort Radar Detector Mount and InvisiCord. I left the Escort in my car during everyday driving for a couple weeks. There a several shopping centers in my area of travel that always set off radar detectors ( I had already blocked them out as false alarms with my 9500i) and wanted to see if the 9500ix would be able to detect them and put them on the "do not call list". After about 2-4 days, I started noticing that the false alarms were quickly disappearing. The areas that I had the most travel were getting cleaned up first and then it spread to the less traveled areas. Within a week or so, all the areas I travel within my little bubble were pretty much false alarm free (pretty amazing).

During the second week, the local law enforcement put one of those speeding signs that tells you your speed in my travel area and sure enough, set the detector right off. I thought this was a perfect test as this speeding sign was right next to a common false alarm area that used to always set my other detectors off. The Escort 9500ix pulled it off with flying colors!!! False alarms blocked out and a new threat identified immediately.

Escort 9500ix

Escort 9500ix

As far as the speeding cameras, so far pretty good. I have had the detector tell me on a few occasions there is a speeding camera when there is not one anywhere to be found. But 7 out of 10 times the camera is there. Kinda makes me wonder if maybe the database that is loaded in the 9500ix is current and future camera locations. Not sure of this, but might be a plausible explanation?

Demo of the 9500IX below....

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvCvJ8IrD1A

Anyway, I am really impressed with the Escort 9500ix!!! Excellent product that gets my full recommendation!! Next up will be a head to head test with the Valentine 1.

Lloyd's Floor Mats

When you think of a Corvette, you think of power, elegance, and beauty.  A few months after the new Vette is brought home, the inevitable modification bug will get you (nobody is immune). With first modifications, it is usually things that increase the power of the car and ways to differentiate the looks from other Corvettes. Improvements to the interior is also a common desire for new Corvette owners as there is a ton of upgrades you can do to give the Corvette a bit more of an exotic look. Everything from new leather interior accessories from Down South Vettes, carbon fiber interior parts, or (believe it or not) embroidered floor mats from Lloyd Mats. I have had Lloyd floor mats in my different Corvettes over the years (always took them for granite) and am amazed at how good they look and how long they last. I figured that since I have this blog, it would make sense to share my experience with Lloyd floor mats products.

Corvette C6 Front Floor Mats

Corvette C6 Front Floor Mats

First off, take a look at the OEM Floor Mats that come with your Corvette. They are ok, but nothing to write home about. It is obvious that the Corvette name was not built on the quality or appearance of their floor mats. Lloyd Corvette Floor mats, when compared side by side with the OEM mats, you will see a huge difference right from the start. The Lloyd Floor Mats are bigger (cover more surface area) and thicker. The OEM mats do not cover the entire floor board, while the Lloyd mats cover the whole floor area. The Lloyd mats also have a no slip backing on the back of the mat and use the factory OEM mat fastening system so you can be 100% confident that the mats are not going to end up bunched up under your feet. So just from a physical functionality and durability standpoint, the Lloyd Mats far surpass the Corvette OEM floor mats. The Lloyd Mats are made with 2 ply nylon yarn (32 oz mats) with a 5/16" pile height, a woven polypropylene backing, and a water resistant latex coating.

Cadillac Floor Mats

Cadillac Floor Mats

Now, we get to the really cool part....All of the Lloyds mats come with factory matching colors for all makes and model Corvettes (not just late models). They have over 4000 patterns for almost any and all car/trucks you can think of including all of the Corvettes. You can also specify what color binding (trim around the edge of the mat) you would like on your floor mats which can really make the interior in your Corvette pop with color. Ok....now the part that really sets the floor mats apart, OEM factory embroidered logos! These are GM approved and licensed logo's that match the original corvette branding for all model years exactly. They also are licensed for almost all other domestic vehicles including Cadillac Floor Mats, Hummer Floor Mats, Dodge Floor Mats, Ford Floor Mats and many more. From an import standpoint,  Lloyd is increasing import licensing and have a good collection of import brands logos available with names like Porsche Floor Mats.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that Lloyd Mats also makes a Corvette cargo mat, and cargo mats for many other vehicles with the same licensed logos and colors options. All the mats product from Lloyds also come with a 5 year unconditional wear warranty (really no way to go wrong with them) and stunning looks that will cause you to notice other Corvette owners floor mats.
